Dec. 3, 1940 The Daily Item - Mrs. Carrie S. Aurand, Bratton Township, Mifflin County, the step-mother of Mrs Carmen Weader, of near McClure, was laid to rest today after funeral services from her late home. She died Sunday at Lewistown Hospital where she had been ill for more than a week. Also surviving are her husband, a daughter, two step-sons, two other step-daughters, a brother and a sister.

March 30, 1948 - Cora Manbeck, 78 years, 7 months, 22 days, of 142 Shaw Ave. died March 30, 1948. Cora was born Aug. 8, 1869. Ethel Albert was informant on death certificate. Cora’s parents were James Russler and Mary Rakard Russler. Death due to cerebral hemorrhage due to arteriosclerosis. (Marian B. Stimely was living here by 1950.)

May 27 1948 The Daily Item, Sunbury, PA - Jay A. Stimely, 46, a native of McClure, died Tuesday in a hospital at Springfield, Mass., of complications after an illness of five years. He was a son of the late Charles and Lizzie Yetter Stimely. Mr. Stimely lived for some years in Lewistown where he was employed by the American Viscose Company and more recently at Springfield where he worked for the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. He is survived by his wife, the former Marian Aurand, one son, Russell, of Pittsburgh, and six brothers and sisters, including Mrs. Merrill Shirk, of Mifflintown. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Fretz Funeral Home, Lewistown, and burial will be in Mount Rock Cemetery here.

Oct. 6, 1951 Record-Journal Meriden, CT - The marriage of Miss Merle F. Bishop, of 25 Hobart Street, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Bishop, of Jacksonville, Florida, to Russell P. Stimely, of 271 Ann Street, son of Mrs. Jay Stimely, of Lewistown, Pa., will take place this afternoon at 4 in the Augustana Lutheran Church. Friends of the couple are invited to attend the ceremony.

Nov. 4, 1953 The Daily Item - Three-months old Neil Hummel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hummel, Reedsville, sustained a depressed skull fracture in an automobile accident in Lewistown, when the car of his father collided with a vehicle driven by Reno B. Aurand, Lewistown RD 2. Six persons in the two cars were treated at Lewistown Hospital dispensary after the accident. The child was not thought hurt but when his parents returned home a lump was noticed on his head. He was taken to the hospital where the fracture was found.

Nov. 2, 1962 The Daily Item - Mrs. Lillian Weader, 49, of Beavertown, died Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Lewistown Hospital. Mrs. Weader suffered a diabetic shock early Thursday morning and was rushed to the hospital but failed to respond to treatment. Mrs. Weader was born in Mifflin County September 4, 1913, the daughter of the late Parker and Clara Moist Aurand. She is survived by her husband, Carmen Weader; a son, Warren Weader, of Beavertown; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Albert of Mechanicsburg and Mrs. Larry Troxell of Beaver Springs; two brothers, Warren and Renno Aurand, both of Lewistown; two sisters, Mrs. Marian Stimely, of Lewistown, and Mrs. Hazel Watts, of Mattawana and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Aurand’s funeral home, Beavertown. Rev. Lyle S. Bundy, of McClure, will officiate. Interment will be in St. John’s Ridge Cemetery, McClure R. D. Viewing will be held Sunday evening at the funeral home.
